Overview

What you get with a Zbolt composite build

Composite decking is the most popular choice we install — for good reason. Modern capped composites resist fading, won't splinter, never need staining, and shrug off the freeze-thaw cycles that crack pressure-treated boards. Spend a Saturday in your hammock, not refinishing.

We install all the major lines — Trex, TimberTech, Deckorators, Fiberon, AZEK — and we'll be honest about which one fits your budget and your sun exposure. South-facing deck in Spanish Fork hits 160°F surface temp on a July afternoon. Some composites handle that better than others. We'll tell you which.

Every composite deck we build uses hidden fasteners (no screw heads cluttering the surface), picture-frame borders for clean edges, and a fascia detail that ties it all together. The result is a deck that looks like furniture, not lumber.

The Upside

Why people choose this

  • No staining, sanding, or sealing — ever
  • 25–50 year manufacturer fade and stain warranty
  • Hidden fastener systems for a flush, splinter-free surface
  • Dozens of colors — match your siding or contrast it
  • Better cold-weather performance than wood

Trade-offs

What to know going in

  • Higher upfront cost than pressure-treated (but lower lifetime cost)
  • Dark colors get hot in direct sun — we'll recommend a lighter cap if your deck is south-facing
  • Can't be sanded down or refinished if scratched (rare, but worth knowing)

FAQ

Composite questions, answered

Trex vs TimberTech — which is better?

Both are excellent. Trex has a wider color range and slightly lower price point. TimberTech (AZEK) offers PVC boards that stay cooler and resist fading even better. We'll bring samples of both to the consult.

Do composite decks get hot?

Darker colors do — like any deck. Lighter cap colors (sand, gray, weathered teak) stay comfortable barefoot. We can also spec a PVC line that runs noticeably cooler than composite.

How long do composite decks last?

30+ years with normal use. The cap is the wear layer and is what carries the fade/stain warranty (25–50 years depending on line).
